SPS Albania

Supporting private sector-led growth in Albania by helping the private sector to increase access to finance and improve competitiveness of companies in most deprived economic sectors such as agriculture.

Supporting the Growth of the

Private Sector Competition

Albania's economic transformation during the past decades has worked to build on the country’s huge potential and opportunities. However, the growth model needs to adapt to the new global and local economic realities and shift from consumption-fueled to investment and export-led growth.

SPS aims to support private sector-led growth in Albania by helping the private sector to increase access to finance and improve the competitiveness of companies in most deprived economic sectors such as agriculture. The activity will improve the business enabling environment necessary to foster a climate for competitiveness, investment, and trade through an effective and meaningful public-private dialogue, concerning the country’s development priorities.

Access to Capital and New

Investments in Agriculture

SPS will facilitate increased investment and export opportunities for select partner enterprises. In pursuing investment opportunities, a range of services to qualified enterprises from business plans to access to finance will be delivered. SMEs with the potential to grow their businesses through trade will be supported with export-led growth services ranging from export-readiness assessment to licensing and transport requirements. In addition, the private sector will be supported with modernizing business practices and linkages to international markets through digital tools and platforms.

Strenghtening Public-Private

Dialogue (PPD) on Key Reforms

Through this component, SPS will facilitate a meaningful and effective dialogue between the GoA and private sector aiming to achieve impactful improvements in business enabling environment. SPS will provide structured, prioritized and flexible technical assistance, training and capacity building interventions in order to strengthen the role and capacity of the government, private sector and other relevant stakeholders. A strategy delivered to main beneficiaries will ensure that the PPD efforts are sustainable beyond the life of SPS activity.
